Marilyn and I are passionate about telling as many people as possible about the ¡°Christmas is a Birthday¡± web site and Christmas lawn signs we created last year. In just two weeks we were able to distribute almost two thousand signs. It seemed as if everyone who saw one wanted one.

Of course, there was a lot in the news last year about what some called the ¡°war on Christmas.¡± This year¡¯s news has been a bit more positive. One news article reported: ¡°The word ¡°Christmas¡± is now acceptable again in major stores as a well wish for this season.¡± If you purchased a ¡°Christmas is a Birthday¡± yard sign last year please do not keep it in storage; put it back out for all to see. If you haven¡¯t purchased a sign I would like to encourage you to do so. They are only $6.00 plus shipping. The yard sign is a Christmas decoration that enables you to make a Christmas declaration.

Why a Christmas sign declaration? Consider the fact that the cover of the November 2006 Wired magazine proclaims in bold print ¡°The New Atheism: No Heaven, No Hell, Just Science¡± The main article states: ¡°The New Atheists ¡­ condemn not just belief in God but respect for belief in God. Religion is not only wrong; it's evil.¡± Sam Harris, another Atheist is quoted saying: ¡°At some point, there is going to be enough pressure that it is just going to be too embarrassing to believe in God."

They got so much bad publicity that this year they even donated money to the Salvation Army, but still prohibit them from coming and ringing bells in front of the store. They now say they are for Christmas, after previously leading the charge for political correctness.

ﻼ Eddie Bauer ¨C 1Customer service would not recognize Christmas, they ¡°don¡¯t want to offend Jews, those who celebrate Kwanza and those who have no religious preference.¡±

ﻼ Gap ¨C ¡°Holiday Survival Guide¡± has no mention of Christmas.

ﻼ Lowe¡¯s ¨C Customer care told us that employees cannot say Merry Christmas to shoppers except in response to the same greeting. 1After a public outcry in 2005, Lowe¡¯s stated they would modify their ads and no longer say things such as ¡°Holiday trees¡±. ﻼ Rite Aid ¨C Advertises ¡°holiday savings¡± with all Christmas products, employees told to say ¡°Happy Holidays.¡± One employee says, ¡°These retailers are profiting from the traditions of giving that have developed out of Christianity but refuse to acknowledge the faith that feeds them.¡±

ﻼ Schnucks Grocery Stores ¨C (MO, IL) Have ¡°Happy Holidays¡± banners but no mention of Christmas anywhere.
